Nathan Mathers

Nathan Mathers is Debbie's second son with Fred Samra Jr and Eminem's half brother. Both brothers have a good and close relationship. Along with Hailie, Nathan belongs to the persons that really matter in Marshall's life. Nathan Kane Samra was born on February the 3rd 1986 in Detroit. Since Nate was a baby, Marshall used to take care of him. Eminem states that he pretty much raised his little brother from the beginning. He even changed his brother's diapers. Nate's life in Detroit has been similar to Marshall's. He has also been bullied at Roseville Elementary school. Debbie Mathers tried to sue his school for that, but Roseville school returned those facts against her and Nate was placed in a foster family for about one year. Debbie was accused of beating her son. Eminem's mom probably also abused her second son emotionally. It is well known that she used to isolate him from other kids. Nate describes her as a crazy person. While his brother was living with his mom, Marshall always had to be careful when he gave Nathan a call : « When I call him, I bite my tongue. I believe she's listening on the other extension. I'm sure he's afraid of my mother and I'm sure he's doing the sama things to him that she did to me. » Eminem has always shown love and concern for his brother. There is a reference to Nate in « Cleaning Out My Closet » from the Eminem show : «… and Nathan's growing up so quick, he's gonna know that your phoney… ». This line appears to be a real warning for Debbie. Nate takes part to many events in Marshall's personal and public life. He has shared his dramas and successes. He supported his brother in the most dramatic even since the beginning of his career : his Court case. He was also present at the Mathers' home when Kim attempted suicide. You can see Nate in several of Eminem's videos (« The Way I Am », « Without Me « « Sing for the Moment ») About Nate, Marshall says : « Yo, my brother is mad cool . He's the most popular kid in the school. He's got like 10 girlfriends. He even died his hair blonde and got his ears pierced. He looks just like me ! He came to my concert and the girls were all over him. They didn't even want to get with me. He was sitting on his girl's lap and i was like « You go, you little pimp. He is cool and we call him Little Nate Dogg. » At the 2001 Detroit Music Awards, Marshall asked his little bother to take his awards and even to deliver the « thank you » speech. At the VMA Awards 2003, Marshall thanked his little brother. Nate also spends time touring with his brother, which is something he enjoys very much. Nate who follows his brother's career with very much interest, is also an aspiring rapper. This is a little freestyle by Nate from Eminem's mom interview on the BBC. Nate was rapping with Debbie in their car : « You laughin' while your bobbin' in your seat, You turn around, I'll bust you in your teeth You'll be laughin' at me, While the girls will be playing with my meat, Stop while your ahead, Take a tylonal and go to bed. » About his musical talent, Debbie Mathers said : « I think when Nathan gets out there, he will do far better than Marshall » But what really matters to Nathan in the end is Eminem's opinion about his talent as a future rapper : "I'm more concerned what Eminem's going to think about me more than anybody else." Nate is still trying to find a record deal. It wouldn't be surprising if he collaborated with his brother someday. Nate currently lives with his brother Marshall since his 16 th birthday. Marshall bought sportscars to Nate for his 16th and 17th birthday. In an interview given to « The Face », Eminem's little brother was asked how it was like to live with his famous brother. He replied : « better than living with my mom ». In another interview given to the webmaster of his official website (nathanmathers.com), Nate also explained that his mom wasn't a good mom and how much crazy she could act in real life. No doubt he is telling the truth.

Forms of disrespect I can't stand

Some arrogant people probably think they have the right to spread anything on the Internet, just to make fun of people. Sometimes they really go to far. Just because they don't like Eminem ( I do respect their point of view, nobody forces them to like Eminem as an artist, not even as a person), they think they have the right to attack his family. I don't know how Jenny Cide 7614 found out about Nathan Mathers' homepage, but she posted some comment about his website, saying « Eminem's lil brother has a shockingly awful website. » Since then, a lot of people started coming to his website just to trash his guestbook and his website has been disabled. Come on, this is a real childish behavior. If you don't like Eminem, leave his brother alone ! Nathan is 17 years old, his website is not supposed to be something very professional and even if you despise it, can't you take into account that other people may like it ? I am really shocked that people think they have the right to make fun of Nathan just because he is Eminem's brother. In fact, those people have no life and their attitude proves that they are unsatisfied with their own lives. If it wasn't the case, they would not waste their time on Nate. I usually don't waste my time on people I despise, my time is too precious for that. Take my advice, bunch of losers : get a damn life !

Marshall is not only a dedicated daddy to Hailie, he is also a great big brother to Nathan. Since Nathan was born, Eminem used to take care of his little brother. He pretty much raised him. In an interview given to Lang Whitaker, Eminem talks about the way he used to take care of Nathan:

« It's got a little something to do with me not knowing my father, so I try to fuckin' make it up a little bit. But I don't think that's the only reason. I think parenthood comes naturally to me. I mean, I raised my little brother. My little brother was born when I was eleven years old, so I pretty much raised him from the cradle. » A former neighbor of Debbie Mathers, Rose Slone, can testify that Marshall was always good to his brother : “He was good to his brother. He was always there for Nathan." Both brothers are in very good terms and they do appreciate each other. When you take a look at pictures of Marshall and Nathan, they look like accomplices. You have probably noticed that they seem to like joking with each other. Marshall and Nate have been through similar tough conditions of living, both have experienced a harsh childhood and have been bullied at school. In 2001, Eminem was seeking for Nate's custody. He has always felt very concerned by his brother's well being. There was a time, he couldn't call him without Debbie listening to their conversation. According to Debbie, Marshall has always been very protective towards Nate: “Marshall does preach to him about staying in school: 'Don't do drugs; don't drink. If I ever catch you doing it, or smoking pot, I'm gonna go out and let you finish a joint and then I'm gonna bust ya upside your head.'" Since his 16 th birthday, Nathan lives with his brother who is a positive role model to him. Nate is very supportive to Marshall's carrier and he has participated to several of his videos. He enjoys his brother's music and he wants to be a rapper too. At the time Nate's website was disabled (some jealous people had trashed his guestbook), I have read so many stupid comments from his detractors. Some of them said that Nate “was a sponge who was living in the shadow of his brother”. To all those people , I would like to say: “Just shut up and get a damn life!” Nate hasn't choosen to be the brother of a celebrity. You cannot compare him to Eminem, he hasn't started an official rap career. In December 2002, he was trying to get a record deal, but for the moment, he hasn't be signed to a label. Of course, if you consider Eminem's huge talent, you will realize that Nate will have to work hard as a rapper. But don't prejudge him before his carrier started. Nate is only 18 years old. He has his life in front of him to prove his skills. For his 18th birthday, Marshall has offered a studio to his beloved brother: he may surprise us very soon with a cool record. Much more than brothers, Marshall and Nate are true friends for life.

Nathan Mathers ans his girlfriend

A few months ago, I decided to write an article about Eminem's brother Nathan. Knowing how much supportive Nathan is towards his brother and that he is also an aspiring rapper, I wanted to gather enough info about him for people to know more about him. My intentions were also to honor him as a supportive family member of Eminem. I also admire the fact that he wants to rap too. Which means that he will have to work very hard. To the person who posted « if ther is one thing i hate is people kissing ass - Id hate to be living in someones shadow like Nate is, and being a sponge of my own brother would put me too shame", think before you post. Nate is not "living in Marshall's shadow". He hasn't started his career yet. He hasn't found any record deal for the moment. He isn't in the show business and didn't have the opportunity to show his talent. At the time I wrote this article, I never thought I would attract some real crazy Nathan fans on the Eminem part of Gavinsblog.com. One of them even dared insulting me and I had to delete her comment because it was really disrespectful and demeaning. Here are some example of some « psycho Nathan Mathers fans » : " yo ashleymr88 wat u sayin? dat ma nates so cute well e iz aint e? n iz all mine!!! n by da way nate aint lookin in to christianity ez happy da way e iz n i love im jus da way e iz." "Nate you are so hot!! Then there is Eminem whitch is just as hot!! if you have any pictures of em or nate dogg send them to..." "yo, nathan i love! i wanna meet you one day. i like you not your brother. well, i do like some of his music. if you get this e-mail me. PLEASE, pretty please!love u much!!!!!" "hell yeah your right they r the most fuckin' sexiest guyz on earth! i want nathan so bad... and i also heard nathan is gonna be rapper soon so dont worry u will hear some of his songs! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! NATE IS SO HOT!!!! I WANT TO F**K HIM ALL NIGHT LONG!!!" Today, I would like to speak my mind about your comments, little 11 years old girls. A freelance music journalist is fed up with your shit. I would really like those freaky comments to stop. You have the right to love Nathan or Marshall, nobody will forbid you that. But, please, keep you sexual fantasies at home!You are pathetic. Please respect Nathan and Marshall. Also stop being such fakes, telling everybody you're in touch with Nathan. Which I sincerely doubt. If you really are, good for you. To all the little girls with no life (I am not talking about people who have left some insightful comments on the website), please respect Nathan. Do you think he would like to read such freaky comments? And above all respect yourselves. Let me tell you this: Nathan is engaged in a long term relationship with a girl called Athena. Both love each other. I'm asking you to respect this. Do you get my point? I am a huge Eminem fan and I know how much people like to invade Marshall's privacy. I am also conscious about how much he suffers from such situations. A loyal Eminem fan ought to respect Marshall and his family, including the ones fans often dislike like Debbie or Kim. Please respect the Mathers. They are normal persons who want people to respect their privacy. I'll never insist enough on that point. Nathan's studio: a chance to listen to his music soon? Two persons are really important in Eminem's eyes: his little daughter Hailie and his little brother Nathan. Marshall is a caring and protective brother towards Nate.He is also a good and sensitive person. When he knew a guy was picking on Nate  at school when he was 17, he personnaly went to his brother's school to tell him to stop. He took time to tell the other kids that violence didn't solve anything and even stayed to sign them autographs, according to a close friend of his: Marshall also may have given us a chance to listen to Nathan Mathers' work soon. He offered a studio to his brother for his 18th birthday. Marshall is Nate's role model and certainly a huge source of inspiration to him: "He's an inspiration to me. We've always been very close and when I need help he helps. He got me the equipment I needed to create a studio in my room because he knows I want to do music too"   I would be very curious to know more about Nate's rap style, if he intends to work solo and do some independant work or if he'd rather work with Marshall and other artists related to Shady Records such as D12, Obie Trice and 50 Cent. Before the release of Nathan's first album, some of my questions may stay unanswered. If Nathan is as hardworking and as gifted as Marshall, his first album promises to be a huge success.

Nathan Mathers in trouble

Eminem's brother seems to be in trouble since last month. He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong moment. On July the 19th, Nathan and one of his fellows were caught by the police: Nathan was a passenger in the car of his friend who tried to sell drugs to an undercover police officer. Nathan's 17 years old friend was charged for trying to sell drugs. Bad publicity for Nathan? Maybe. He appears to be more a spectator than a real actor in this story. Nathan is young. He makes mistakes, like anybody of us. Don't judge him too severely on one mistake. He's got a lot of potential and the future in front of him. Hopefully we will see him start his rapping or acting career soon.
