Bio- early years Short biography of Marshall Mathers III

Marshall Mathers III was born in St Joseph, (near Kansas City) on October the 17 th, in 1972. His mom Debbie Nelson married Marshall Mathers Jr when she was only 15.She almost died delivering her son Marshall.

After Marshall was born, his parents moved to North Dakota where his Dad was supposed to start a job as a hotel manager. But in 1973, Debbie took her son to St Joseph,Missouri, to live with his aunt Edna Swartz.

Marshall never saw his father again.

Young Marshall switched schools more than 20 times, which made it even more difficult for him to build up true friendships. His only close friend was his uncle Ronnie, who introduced him into rap music. He constantly moved back from Kansas City to Detroit until his mom decided to stay in Detroit for good.

His daily life in Detroit was a nightmare. He was bullied at school by a group of kids.D'Angelo Bailey, who was two years older than him, used to terrorize Marshall with a group of kids and one day he attacked him so severely with a snowball that he went into a coma for 9 days.

Marshall and Kim met when they were both at high school.Kim used to live at Debbie's home as his foster sister because she had been kicked out of her parent's home. They used to fight like brother and sister ,but soon they became inseparable.

In 1995,Kim became pregnant from Marshall and gave birth to their daughter Hailie Jade on December 25th,1995.

Hailie's birth encouraged Marshall after Ronnie's death (in 1991).He wanted to be a responsible father to his daughter and was working very hard at Gilbert's Lodge and often exasperated the boss because he was often rapping the commands! He lost his job in 1996 and felt depressed. He couldn't even afford diapers for his daughter. The release of his album “Infinite” was a flop.He wrote “Rock Bottom” and wanted to end up his life and took a bunch of pills.Fortunately,he survived to his suicide attempt.Wendy Day, the founder of Rap Coalition , invited Marshall to L.A. There was a 500 dollar cash prize to win.Eminem was placed second. He felt discouraged, because he was sure he'd be the first.Jimmy Iovine from Interscope Records asked him for a demo.

“Yeah,just take it”, Eminem said.

Jimmy played the demo to the famous Dr Dre who liked it.Dr Dre wanted to meet Eminem and asked him to work with him.Dre litteraly saved Eminem and both men became true friends. The “Slim Shady Lp “ was released on the 23rd of February and went triple platinum.Eminem's way from the bottom to stardom is impressing.Eminem is a talented wordsmith His lyrics are poetry.Unforunately Eminem is misunderstood by many people. He's often accused of being misogynistic, homophobic and violent, demeaning to women and society.Anybody who takes a serious look at his lyrics will understand when he's joking and when he's serious. To me, he's the most talented lyricist and rapper in the whole wide world.

Facts about Eminem's early years in Missouri This cute little baby is actually Marshall As most of you probably already know, Marshall Mathers III was born on October the 17th, 1972, in St Joseph, Missouri. People who are curious to discover more about the town where Eminem was born will find some reliable info here: What do we know about Marshall's early years? In fact, very few things that have been written down by Eminem's grandmother from the paternal side, Rae W. Drowns, and we also know some other facts thanks to great aunt Edna Swartz. Debbie Mathers is not the person who witnessed Marshall's early years. After she split with her husband in 1973 and left North Dakota for Marshall's great aunt Edna's home, Missouri, Debbie disappeared from her son's life for several years and suddenly reappeared around 1977. The person who pretty much raised little Marshall is his great aunt Edna . Edna Swartz happens to be grandma Rae's sister. If Marshall Mathers Jr's statements are true, Edna's task wasn't simple at all: Debbie forbid her to tell anybody where her son was actually staying or she would cut all ties with with her and her sister for ever. Marshall's « hidden » childhood Great aunt Edna describes Marshall as a « happy and curious baby » . The first words pronounced by the full mouthed rapper on April the 17th, 1973 were « dada » and « hungry ». Marshall started walking when he was only 11 months. Eminem's footprints are kept in an album that was found by Eminem's dad in 2002 when grandma Rae died from Alzheimer disease. The same album gives us an idea of Marshall's favorite taste as a baby: he used to like cherry and vanilla pudding very much. It also gives us some information about Marshall's favorite song at this time: he used to like « the Ugly Duckling » as a little kid. Grandma Rae's album also reveals: « Marshall likes to sleep any time, day or night, and goes to bed between nine and ten. » Another document reminds us of Eminem's early years: it is the card that he had written to grandma Rae for Christmas when he was around 5 years old. Although Marshall seem to be very attached to Detroit, St Joseph may remind him of happy and peaceful early memories. It is also the place where his friendship with Ronnie started. Aunt Edna is still alive. She never took any money from Marshall when he became famous. She is the real whitness of Marshall's « hidden » childhood in Missouri.
